Experience our mini zoo and its wildlife some indigenous to Jamaica at Swamp Safari Village located in Falmouth, Trelawny. You can visit the walk through Aviary and view several species of rare local birds and other animals at the zoo. The central feature of this natural attraction is the large labyrinthine limestone cave with the unique rock formations, its stalactites, stalagmites and abundance of overhead ceiling pockets and bats. Green Grotto is characterized of many chambers and light holes and a subterranean lake – the Grotto Lake occupies its bowels. It is surrounded by thick vegetation and supplied with water flowing from its secret depths.

At Green Grotto you will get a slice of Jamaica’s rich history which can be trace back to the first inhabitants of the island the Arawak Indians (Tainos) who used the caves for various purposes. Travel to the highest part of the island, hike and camp overnight at Blue Mountain. The Blue Mountains are the longest mountain range in Jamaica. They include the islands highest point, Blue Mountain Peak, at 2256 m. it is accessible via a walking track both the north and south coasts of the island can be seen. It features a majestic scenery and hiking or biking through the mountains you will witness first hand nature at its finest. The under explored area of the mountain is also the source of the world famous and fragrant Blue Mountain Coffee.

Blue Mountain is home to quaint villagers and locals that live in the mountains are very friendly. You will get to view waterfalls and tiny restaurants throughout. The scenery is spectacular especially from the peak of the mountain, you will hike up the mountain for 3 to 4 hours, camp overnight and see the sunrise in the morning. The Blue Mountain Inn is a good option for dinner the setting is beautiful and the food incredible. There is a sitting room with coffee liqueur for the ladies and cigar for the men.

Biking Tours are also available which run about 17 miles down through the mountains. The journey begins around 6000 feet elevation and ends at waterfall where all can enjoy a cool and relaxing swim. There are coffee plantation tours some small and others large. Visitors get to see how coffee beans are gathered and processed to make the world famous coffee.

Take along with you good walking shoes, water, long sleeved shirt, dress in layers for the hike and snacks for the hike.

Take a Tour and see the remains of Port Royal once home of pirates. Port Royal Jamaica was discovered in 1518, due to its position it quickly became the center of the Caribbean. Once known as the richest and wickedest city on earth Port Royal is now a quiet and peaceful fishing village. From pirates and wealth to earthquake and peace. Taking a tour of Port Royal you will learn about what it was like before and after the earthquake in 1962. There was a battle for Port Royal between the Spanish and the British. The Spanish were rich but they were weak and the British wanted their wealth. The British raided the Spanish ships through piracy and became so rich taking control of Port Royal. They recruited buccaneers and had many exploits on the sea. There was one pirate that lives in Port Royal, the famous Henry Morgan. He not only invaded ships but he invaded countries and was the most feared and celebrated pirate of the 17th century. His most famous raid was on Panama City along with 2000 buccaneers in 1670. He returned home with riches (silver & gold). By then British had become a commercial force worldwide and made many friends. Pirates were getting out of control and as a way to control this British Knighted Henry Morgan and made him Lieutenant Governor.

The earthquake in 1962 had ruined the city of Port Royal and sank 33 acres nearly 2/3 of the island. Thousands were killed immediately and many more died from injuries and diseases. Port Royal never returned to its glory days an act of God many say for the wickedest city on earth. You can tour the city and see the Gloria Restaurant famous for their seafood dishes, the Henry Morgan’s Harbor Hotel. There is the St. Paul’s Methodist Church, one of the few churches of its kind still around. Another is the Saint Peter’s Anglican built in 1975 to replace a church that was destroyed in 1962. Ye Olde Parade Bar and Fort Charles, the only fort left standing of the six forts that were used to guard the city. Visit the museum that displays all the history of Port Royal. There is the Giddy House, tipped over by the earthquake is slanted, once you enter you begin to feel dizzy.

Other places you can visit are Fort Rupert, Naval Dockyard, Port Royal Parade, Isle de France, McFarlane’s Bar, The Women Goal, Historic Royal Naval Hospital, Underwater City, Medical Laboratory and Chocolate Hole.
